Services

Whether you’re preparing to query agents or planning to self-publish, your story deserves thoughtful, intentional care. I approach every project as a collaboration, meeting you where you are in the writing process and helping you develop both the manuscript and your craft.

I hold an MFA in Writing and professional certifications from the Editorial Freelancers Association, and I bring years of combined writing and editorial experience to every edit. My feedback is craft-driven, collaborative, and focused on helping you build stronger storytelling instincts.

All editing services begin with a free sample edit to ensure we’re the right fit. If you’re unsure which stage of editing your manuscript is ready for, I’m happy to help guide you toward the service that best serves your goals—even if that means recommending another path. Explore the services below, and reach out when you’re ready to begin!

Developmental Edit

Starting at $0.015/word

This includes an in-depth assessment of your character and plot development, narrative arc/structure, pacing, themes, etc.—all the big moving parts of your novel to get your work ready to begin querying agents or publication. With a full developmental edit package, you’ll receive:

  • A pre-edit chat to suss out your goals and vision, as well as any concerns you have about your manuscript going in. I find that writers’ instincts are often dead on—always trust your gut! Though you may not know why something feels off in your work, we’ll chat about it and get to the bottom of it together!

  • A detailed editorial letter (typically 20+ pages) highlighting the novel’s strengths, major areas for improvement both in writing craft and the story as a whole, tangible examples for improvement, and actionable steps to take as you approach revisions.

  • A copy of the manuscript with editorial comments, questions, and highlights to help you identify and keep track of various story elements throughout your manuscript.

  • A post-edit chat to go over feedback, any lingering questions you might have, and further steps as you embark on the revision journey!

Want step-by-step guidance? Ask about my Revision Roadmap—a customized, actionable plan with a checklist (we love checklists over here!) to keep your revision process focused and give you that satisfying sense of progress. Every box you check is a little victory on your way to a stronger draft!

A developmental edit might be most useful if you . . .

  • have engaged alpha readers and aren’t sure which feedback to implement and which to disregard.

  • have finished and/or self-edited your manuscript and gotten it as far as you can get it yourself.

  • want hands-on, big-picture feedback with both an editorial letter and margin comments to see how issues play out scene by scene.

  • are seeking a collaborative experience with pre- and post-edit chats to talk through instincts, concerns, and strategies.

Manuscript Evaluation

Starting at $800

For authors wanting a professional, big-picture “diagnosis” of their manuscript

This includes a big-picture assessment of your character and plot development, narrative arc/structure, themes, pacing, etc.

While not as detailed or nitty-gritty as a full developmental edit, this will give you an overview of what specific items to focus on in revision that will make the biggest improvements overall. With a manuscript evaluation package, you’ll receive:

  • A pre-edit chat to suss out your goals and vision, as well as any concerns you have about your manuscript going in.

  • A full read-through of your manuscript with comments.

  • An editorial summary highlighting the manuscript’s strengths and most critical areas for improvement.

  • Answers to your specific questions.

A manuscript evaluation might be most useful if you . . .

  • want a professional “diagnosis” before investing in a full edit
(be it developmental or later-stage edits, like line or copyediting).

  • have already done significant self-edits on your manuscript.

  • have finished your first draft and want guidance to prepare you for your second draft.

A Note on Coaching

I offer a very small number of coaching spots for writers seeking deeper, craft-focused support. Because this work requires a high level of engagement and trust, coaching inquiries are handled through direct conversation rather than open booking. Please reach out to inquire about availability.

A Note on Pricing

The rates listed above are starting points. Final pricing varies based on manuscript length, complexity, and the level of feedback required. All projects begin with a sample edit and review to determine the best fit and provide an accurate quote. I offer structured payment plans and flexible timelines when available. If you have questions about pricing or fit, you’re welcome to reach out through the inquiry form.

Manuscript Coaching

Work directly with an editor as you draft or self-edit your manuscript!

This service is designed to give you professional insight and structure while keeping full creative control in your hands. Coaching is completely customizable—tailored to your unique goals, genre, and stage of the writing process.

You can build your own coaching package from the following features:

  • In-Document Feedback: Receive comments and guidance directly on your manuscript on a regular basis to help you refine your story’s structure, characters, and pacing.

  • Regular Check-Ins: Schedule phone or Google Meet sessions to talk through story developments, creative blocks, or next steps in your process.

  • Craft Worksheets & Exercises: Learn and experiment with specific story elements—such as dialogue, character arcs, worldbuilding, and tension—through targeted worksheets designed to strengthen your skills.

  • Revision Roadmap: For writers who want to self-edit rather than invest in multiple rounds of edits (Developmental, Line, Copy), I’ll help you break down revisions into manageable stages. You’ll receive a personalized roadmap to keep your eventual self-edits focused and measurable—because nothing feels better than checking things off your list.

Manuscript coaching is perfect for writers who . . .

  • want professional support without the full cost of multiple editing rounds.

  • work better with accountability, reassurance, and a plan.

All coaching inquiries include a free consultation to discuss your project, your goals, and how we can build a plan that helps you bring your book to life.
